Shima Esmailian is a Teaching Assistant and a PhD Candidate at the University of Geneva Law Faculty. Her research includes a critical analysis of the existing regime in international law governing systematic gender segregation.

Prior to joining the Geneva Academy, she interned and worked with several international organizations, United Nations (UN) agencies, NGOs, initiatives, and law firms, including the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, Collaborative Social Change in Canada, and the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy.

Shima holds a MAS in Transitional Justice, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law from the Geneva Academy, a Bachelor in Law, and an LLM in Human Rights from Shahid Beheshti University.
