What are the key challenges to the right to life during armed conflicts, emergencies and disasters? How does it apply? What protection does it afford in those situations? The Human Rights Committee is updating its General Comment on the right to life, ensuring it is in line with the new developments and challenges inherent in new emerging situations of conflict, emergency and disaster. During the debate, the speakers, both members of the Committee, will share their views, interpretations and understanding of the right to life and its protection.
