Anne Quintin, former Teaching Assistant on international humanitarian law (IHL) at the Geneva Academy and alumna of our LLM in IHL and Human Rights will lead the Advisory Service of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which assists states to implement IHL at the national level.

‘It is always a pleasure to see our former students taking up responsibilities in the IHL field and pursuing in their career what they’ve learned and later taught in class’ underlines Professor Marco Sassòli, Director of the Geneva Academy.

Anne Quintin, 34, is also doing a PhD at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva, under the supervision of Professor Marco Sassòli, and sent a first consolidated draft of her thesis on ‘Permissions, Prohibitions and Prescriptions: The Nature of International Humanitarian Law’ exactly the day before she took up her new position at the ICRC on 3 September.

About ICRC Advisory Service

As a specialized structure of the ICRC, the Advisory Service assists states to implement IHL at the national level.

In her new position, Anne Quintin will lead a global network of legal advisers – based in Geneva and worldwide – who provide guidance to national authorities on specific domestic implementation measures needed to meet their IHL obligations and support the work of national IHL bodies established to facilitate IHL implementation domestically.
