Alex Conte is Executive Director of Child Rights Connect, an NGO focused on the transformative role and potential of children and children's rights defenders – working with and through the United Nations human rights system – to realize children's rights and sustainable systemic change for a prosperous and fair society.
He is an experienced human rights lawyer with over 20 years of practical experience at all levels of conceptualizing, designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating human rights and rule of law work. His work has included a significant focus on achieving justice for gross human rights violations, through redress for victims and accountability of perpetrators.
Alex has worked as a criminal law barrister, with international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, and in academia as a professor of international law and human rights.
Alex holds undergraduate, masters and PhD degrees in law and was the 2004 New Zealand Law Foundation International Research Fellow.
