Patryk I. Labuda is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

Patryk's work lies at the intersection of international law, transitional justice and peacekeeping. His current research examines the use of non-lethal force and the protection of civilians by United Nations (UN) peacekeepers. In his PhD, he studied how international criminal tribunals influence the accountability policies of governments in conflict-affected countries.

With the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation, Patryk finished his doctorate at Harvard Law School, Cambridge University and Stellenbosch University in South Africa. His research is informed by several years of practice in post-conflict countries.

Most recently, he advised the European Union in Libya. Before this, he trained government officials, attorneys and parliamentarians in Sudan and South Sudan. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he worked on domestic judicial reform and transitional justice with the National Police, Justice Ministry and Parliament. He has also consulted for NGOs and international organizations in the Central African Republic, Georgia and Mali. He is also a member of the UN Security Council Roster of Experts.

Patryk holds a PhD in international law from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, an LLM from Columbia Law School, a Certificate of Transnational Law from the University of Geneva, and degrees in law (Magister iuris) and history (Licencjat) from Adam Mickiewicz University.
