Giovanni Distefano has been Professor of International Law at the University of Neuchatel since 2009. His areas of research and expertise include public international law, the law of treaties, state responsibility and use of force.
From 2002 to 2004, he taught at the University of Geneva’s Department of Public International Law and International Organization and was Assistant Professor at the University of Lausanne Public Law Institute. Giovanni Distefano has also worked for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, UNICEF, the International Law Institute, Italian Society of International Law, Université Libre de Bruxelles, the Australian National University, the Universities of Verona and Catane, and the University of the United Arab Emirates.
This course provides an introduction to the regime of sanctions under international law and their effectiveness in addressing contemporary forms of conflict.
