Dr Baïna Ubushieva is an Associate Research Fellow at the Geneva Academy, conducting research on the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.
Her expertise and publications are centred around international and European human rights law, with a particular focus on the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, a human rights-based approach to environmental protection and climate action, and the legal system established by the European Convention on Human Rights.
Prior to joining the Geneva Academy, Dr Ubushieva served as a legal clerk for Judge Krzysztof Wojctyzek and worked as a case-processing lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights. She provided her expertise as an international consultant for UNDP Viet Nam, conducting research on the nexus between human rights and the adverse effects of climate change. She is regularly invited to give guest lectures at various institutes, including EM Strasbourg Business School and the Foundation René Cassin – International Institute of Human Rights.
Dr Ubushieva holds a PhD in Public Law from the University of Bordeaux, Master's degrees in European Union Law and International Law, and a Licence (BA) in Law and Political Science.
