IHL Talks
coolloud
On 3rd January 2020, the United States launched a drone strike on two vehicles leaving Baghdad's airport, resulting in the killing of seven people, including General Qassem Soleimani (the commander of the Iranian Quds force). This unexpected attack sparked intense scholarly debate on its potential (il)legality under jus ad bellum, international humanitarian law and international human rights law, to which this IHL Talk aims at contributing.
The IHL Talks are a series of events, hosted by the Geneva Academy, on international humanitarian law and current humanitarian topics. Every two months, academic experts, practitioners, policymakers and journalists discuss burning humanitarian issues and their regulation under international law.
