Professor Maya Hertig Randall joins the Geneva Academy’s Board as the second representative of the University of Geneva (UNIGE) Law Faculty, one of our parent institutions along with the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.

She was nominated by the Law Faculty Teaching Body in replacement of Professor Nicolas Michel who stepped down after ten years of presidency.

Maya Hertig Randall is Professor of Constitutional Law and Director of the Department of Public Law at the Law Faculty. She is a member of the Swiss Federal Commission against Racism and of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Her main fields of research and publications are international and comparative human rights, in particular, freedom of speech and religious freedom, judicial review, international constitutionalism and federalism, and diversity accommodation.

She holds a PhD from the University of Fribourg, a first class LLM degree from the University of Cambridge and was admitted to the Geneva bar in 2002.
