On 29–30 May 2018, our Manager of Policy Studies, Felix Kirchmeier, presented our publication Optimizing the UN Treaty Body System in New York to the Chairpersons of United Nations treaty bodies, diplomats and civil society representatives.

During one week, 14 academics from five countries deepened their knowledge and expertise of United Nations human rights mechanisms during a customized training course co-organized with the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights of the University of Oslo.
Our LLM students travelled to Belgrade and Pristina where they met a wide range of experts and institutions who work in the fields of international humanitarian law, human rights, international criminal law, transitional justice and migration. Alongside, they also had the opportunity to discover a new region and culture!
Last month, students of our Master of Advanced Studies in Transitional Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law travelled to Nuremberg where they visited key transitional justice sites, met leading experts and exchanged with other students from Germany and Israel.

Our new Research Brief The Rights to Food Sovereignty and to Free, Prior and Informed Consent presents the protection of these rights at international, regional and national levels and defines the main elements of the rights that could be included in the UN Declaration on the rights of peasants and other people working in rural areas. It will be presented at the 5th session of the intergovernmental working group on the rights of peasants and other people working in rural areas which aims to finalize the UN Declaration.
